2004 Wiggle Waggle Walk, Run and Ride Can you believe that it's been an entire year since last years Wiggle Waggle Walk? UNBELIEVABLE!! This was me and Daisy's second Wiggle Waggle Walk, and supposedly the largest turnout in Pasadena Humane Society history. Kinda cool, huh? The morning started off wet. October 17, 2004 not only was the day of the Wiggle Waggle Walk, but it was the first day that southern California has seen rain in about 6 months. What are the chances?? I woke up at 7:35am, hit the shower and Daisy, my Girlfriend and I reached the Rose Bowl in Pasadena right about 8:35am. The walk started at 9:00am. The smell of poop was in the air as Daisy and I waited in line to check in. Dogs were barking, poop was smelling, and the rain had temporarily stopped. Good deal. After check-in, we met up with Belle, which is one of Daisy's newest friends. Belle is a Shepard mix with possibly some hound in her. I'm pretty sure she was rescued from the Pasadena Humane Society a few years back. I could be wrong. Don't quote me on it. Anyways, we met up with our friends and the walk started on time! We were off! Daisy and Belle both hit the walk route side by side, and they stayed pretty much side by side the whole time. Daisy's "flag" was up in the air and she was waggling. About 15 minutes into the walk, we couldn't believe that the rain had stopped for us. It was great! About a 1 1/2 miles into the walk, we felt a drop. Here came the rain, and it didn't just drizzle, it poured. It was coming down, and Daisy, all my friends and I were getting soaked. The pace of the walk hadn't changed though. All the dogs were still walking with their owners, and most of them now had their umbrellas out. There was a total of 4 1/2 humans (1 baby) and 2 dogs in our group... and one umbrella. So of course, the girls and the baby get the umbrella, and Daisy, Belle, my buddy and I didn't. I didn't mind though. I don't mind rain when I'm having fun, and I was. I was wearing a supposed water-proof wind breaker, that of course leaked right through. I was also wearing a rain hat that also leaked right through getting my face all wet. So I was wet and wearing Jeans, which weighed me down, and made the walk a little more challenging for me. No matter what, we went on! The walk finally ended when Daisy and I were officially saturated with enough water to fill a pool. The rain stopped again, and the sun came out. Cool. We went to the car so I could take off my wet clothes and go to the After Walk Festivities only wearing my boxer shorts... just kidding. After drying off a little, we went to the park right outside of the Rose Bowl for all the fun and games that follow a Wiggle Waggle Walk. We first watched the agility demonstration, which was put on by Muttley Crew K9 Entertainment company. A really cool dog agility performance crew. It was great! Visit the Movie Clips section for a clip! I wish I had the time to train Daisy to do half the stuff those dogs know how to do. It was definitely entertaining. After that, registered participants of the Wiggle Waggle Walk received a FREE lunch! So we ate our lunch while watching Muttley Crew do their thing. Towards the end of the afternoon, we hung around for the name drawings... of course I didn't win. I also visited the Nutro booth and got some free samples of that new Nutro ULTRA dog food. That stuff is pretty cool. It has not only Chicken Meal, but it has Salmon Meal and Lamb Meal. 3 different kinds of meats in one food... plus it also has Oatmeal, Flax Seed, Glucosamine & Chondroitin, Kelp and some other good stuff. I like the whole idea of 3 meats. So after that, the place was pretty much dying out, so we left the Rose Bowl. Daisy was beat and hit the floor in the car, curled into a ball and went to sleep. When we got home, I took off her harness, she jumped on my bed, curled into a little ball and fell asleep. Daisy isn't used to being so active during the day. She usually sleeps all day long while I'm at work. Later that night, I notice something weird about Daisy's tail. It looked as though she was favoring it a little, as if she hurt it. She couldn't keep her tail straight. It looked like a noodle tail. Daisy has "Noodle Tail"!!! Read all about it HERE. Overall, the walk was again a success! Even though it rained, it was still fun and the turnout was great as well. Daisy and I are definitely looking forward to next year. Daisy and I would like to thank all the sponsor's for their donations! Without you guys, the walk would just be a walk. You are helping the animals, as well as keeping Daisy and I motivated to do the walk every year! Thanks you guys!
